Sunday Surprise

Local roundup

I spent the better part of Friday involved in a massive production of strawberry jam.  Here’s a round up to make up for my neglect.

The mustang is headed in for repairs.

JAZ:

This is probably why, despite the fact that I love to look at art, I decline most invitations to gallery openings or discussions with art snobs.

Because snobbery is more akin to playing a game of Follow the Leader than it is actually forming one’s own opinions on the relative merits of an individual work of art.

I thoroughly enjoy Modern Charleston, they take all the legwork out of choosing landscaping material.

Eugene volunteers at the aquarium, this weekend he shares some nice photos of birds of prey.

Al Forno:

I should have seen coming long ago but I somehow missed it. It’s the logical extension of “locavorism” and not just takes things to the next level but has the added advantage of making it even more difficult for people to be able to eat in an ideologically-correct way.

I’m going to call it “eating native”, and I’ll bet you’ll be hearing a lot more of it in the upcoming year or so. Eating local is usually defined as eating only things produced within an 100 or so mile radius of where you live. Eating native ups the ante and means eating only things produced locally that are native to the region.

I’ll see you in the morning.
