Janet calls journalists to task:

You want to claim the mantle of  “journalist” with the rights and freedoms included therein? Then you better by God understand that with it comes a responsibility and a humility to at least factor in some notion of service  to something more than your paycheck and your next book deal.

How many so-called reporters and TV commentators are using the positions and authority granted them  by the people to fulfill their duties? Is there anyone in the national MSM disseminating information that’s accurate and relevant and vital to the country’s well-being?

Patrick shares a lengthy post on the current interplay between religion and politics, Four Wrongs Don’t Make a Right:

If you have a message of genuine reconciliation, you don’t speak of it only then “they” aren’t around. You invite “them” in. You treat “them” as if they are as welcome as anyone else: you demonstrate through your actions that you believe that everyone is truly equal, truly brothers and sisters in the eyes of God.

The language he used in this speech just doesn’t seem to indicate that real reconciliation is at the top of the agenda. You can view the world as black and white, or you can accept the fact that there is a little black, a little white, and a whole lot of gray in between. When I see someone who is a Christian only willing to believe the former, that makes me, as a fellow Christian, wonder why.

JanetLee says it may be time for America to grow up and face economic reality:

We have been brainwashed into thinking that a family with a large home, two or more cars, several televisions, cell phones for every member, enough computers and laptops and gaming systems for every member, the latest fashions in clothes, every member engaging in more than two paid-for activities, going out to dinner several nights a week, going to Disney at least once a year, we’ve been brainwashed into thinking that that is middle class.

People, that is rich. That is lower upper class.
