Primary Thoughts
Even those sick to death of politics may enjoy Jeff’s rundown of last night’s events:
7:02 pm - 7:29 pm
Talking heads discuss the same things they’ve been discussing for five months now (the term “super delegates” is mentioned 3,452 times).7:30 pm
Polls close in North Carolina.7:30:01 pm
Networks call N.C. for Barack Obama.7:30:02 pm
Hillary Clinton’s campaign declares moral victory in N.C., citing something called the “We Closed The Gap From 20 points to 14 Points” theory. Clinton’s campaign manager pleads with the nation to accept this. “You don’t want to see her angry,” he assures the nation.
Dan has a message for Hilary.
That said, I can certainly understand if Hillary stays in until May 20. She’s got West Virginia and Kentucky next. But even big victories there will be met the morning after with the realities that chances only look worse.
if you saw Hillary’s Indiana “victory” speech last night, you may have noticed the looks on Bill’s red face as he stood behind her with Chelsea. Between all the fake smiles and obligatory head noddery, there were a number of emotions he was telegraphing: sadness, pain, defeat, anguish, disappointment… it was pretty obvious he was not happy
