Local roundup

It looks like blogger Dan Tennant has had a rough day and he knows just who is at fault:

It turns out I was the victim of a “schedule change”, which is a polite euphemism for “we don’t fly to Atlantic City anymore”. I am not pleased with Delta over this, but what makes me furious is that when Delta contacted Orbitz about this on March 22 (5 weeks ago), Orbitz dropped this information on the floor. As I was standing at the counter being told that no flight existed, I pulled up Orbitz and it still displayed my reservation with no alerts.

Our Yankee in a Southern Kitchen first utters words of blasphemy:

I don’t like Banana Pudding, never have liked it, till now that is. Hating to admit it, I think perhaps I may be somewhat of a picky eater.  Learning to cook and eat Southern has required me to set aside what I think I like and don’t like in favor of what I might learn to like.

Southern Banana Pudding is one of those foods that I might learn to like, especially when the recipe comes from Scott and Miss Edna.

but she quickly recovers with a lovely tutorial.

Jeff is suffering from the maintenance crew blues:

They are digging outside my house. By “they” I mean demons from hell. No, that’s not right. Demons from hell would never create such a racket.

I received a notice on my door about two weeks ago informing me that there would be crews in the area performing “a routine upgrade of the electrical distribution system.” They didn’t say when it would begin, so it was anyone’s guess, including probably the people who were supposed to do the work. They also did not mention when the project would be completed, which is understandable, as they probably couldn’t put too fine a point on it. As with any project of this sort, it will probably be wrapped up sometime between noon and four months from now.
