Jennifer explains why her family has a garden:

4. We are closing the loop. From kitchen scraps, to the compost, back into the earth and grown and cultivated again-the beginnings of recycling our food.
5. Our heritage. My grandparents had vegetable gardens, many of us remember the Victory Gardens (there is a war going on now!) and Chad? Well, I’ll let him tell you about his grandparents.

Pat recently trudged through Villette:

Would I recommend it? Not really. I much prefer Jane Austen’s novels, all seven of which I just finished a couple of weeks ago. I did pick up some weird new vocabulary words from Villette, though.
