Once Again it Is Hurricane Season
The first named Atlantic storm, Arthur, made an appearance this afternoon reincarnated from the remnants of the first named eastern Pacific storm, Alma.
There are so many positives to living along the coast here in Charleston. But if one were to list any negatives, number one would more then likely be hurricane season. There is something so unsettling and nerve racking about having to live 6 months out of the year on edge, knowing that during this time we could quite literally be just a few days warning away from our lovely coastal town being decimated by a major hurricane. Odds are we won’t be hit and if we are, it will be only minor a la Gaston in 2004. . .
The questions are already coming everywhere we go…”whats the season looking like this year” or “are we going to get hit this year”. Of course we give the standard answer…”We just don’t know yet. We will have to wait and see.” There is some degree of reliability in overall season to season activity but there is no way to tell where or when an individual storm will form more than a few days out. So for all of you wanting a more accurate tropical forecast…just hold on. We are getting better year after year.
